A beginners Guide: Posting at directory owners Forum

I wanted to share my own thoughts on how to make the most at DP directory owners forum or any other directory forum. I see new members (=New in this business) all the time and I hope they can use a few tips to help them have a positive experience with us.

So I have noticed some unofficial stats for this forum:

A. At any time there are approximately 65-100 in this forum

B. There are many TOP quality directory owners. You will learn from the pro’s directly.

C. We offer informative advice on how to improve the directory business and many many tips that will help you save money and time.

D. And my favorite= The benefit of becoming a trusted directory owner, which will get you new submissions to your directory.

1. What would you think about a member with 1-10 posts?

Right. I know, you will have to prove that you’re not the next “QBC” member.

2. Try to post at the beginning of a new thread or be the first on the second page (post #21). Readers most likely will notice you at this hot spots.

3. Make it a point to post at “very popular threads”, you’ll know which one I’m talking about. These threads are visited by almost all members. There are other benefits such as pr and non related visitors that find the thread interesting.

4. Keep the thread on topic. If you wish to talk about something else, it is more productive to start your own. If all could agree on this, I bet this forum would be more interesting.

5. Write useful comments, not two or three words just to increase your post count.

6. Be respectful of others. People will appreciate the respect you give them and will respect you in return. So many times member will insult each other to the point that some are banned or leave on their own.

I will name member as an example: Britishguy owner of Forplex (a very popular and quality directory). Since I know about him, I find that most his post are positive and careful written to avoid any misunderstanding. I’m pretty sure you will find that he is well respected among directory owners. My respect for him!

Why is this point so important? Some members are so knowledgeable in this area and not having them in this forum certainly affects all of us.

7. Unless you have a good reason to pm a some one, please don’t do it. Asking for favors such as writing a positive comments for you is not going to help much. You will be banned for sending this useless pms.

8. Be helpful. You don’t have to be an expert to help someone. Many members will give you a positive comments for just helping them. This is something that I really like about this forum, so many ways that we help each other (It is Amazing!!!)

9. Write articles/Your list of ???/Or anything of important to our community. I have learned a lot reading this information.

10. Do you know what is the best time to post something important? It is something you need to think about before starting a new thread. Sometimes it will help you create the biggest thread. So, make sure you’re available to answer questions in timely manner.

11. Use the Search Button. Do I have tell you why? So please have fun with it.

12. Using public forums is an art. If you use it correctly, it will give you an advantage and get you in the “trusted Category” in short period of time. Not to mention the many new friends you will make right here. So let’s make this forum the perfect home for the new generation of DIRECTORIES.

13. If you have the option put a linkback to your dp member page. You might get a higher pr for your member page. I have seen some members with PR6. I know you will find other great results for doing this.

Sorry for not writing a book, but so far this is all I have. I will be updating this article with more tips.

I know there a lot of things I did not talk about, so feel free to mention them here and I will add them to my list.
